Best feelings

So I decided to write down my top 5 best realistic, day to day, best feelings. None of the mushy stuff, none of the idealistic romanticized stuff… but real feelings, that many can relate to.

My top 5 best feelings are….

  • 1) Walking off a long flight and having all the special people you love and that love you waiting at the airport to pick you up.
  • 2) That first instance when you dunk your head under the warm (more like hot and steamy for me :P) water when you’re having a bath.
  • 3) Getting an A (or, even better, MULTIPLE As) on your exams/papers/report card.
  • 4) That floating feeling you get after a good workout, and then taking a sip of cold water to quench your thirst.
  • 5) That first instant you put on warm socks and cuddle up in bed with your kitty when you’re absolutely freezing.

Ottawa Delight

Hi Friends,

I’ve been so busy these last few days.. sorry for the delayed post! I hope you are all well.

Today was such a beautiful day. It felt as if it were spring rather than Autumn! It was ~15 degrees today! (Celsius of course.. II’m not too sure how much it is in Fahrenheit!) It’s quite deceiving to have such nice weather in the middle of November, when we all know that in a couple of weeks we won’t even be able to see the ground because of the snow, nor will we be able to go outside without wearing some 35 layers of clothes to stay warm!!

This weekend we celebrated E’s birthday. His actual birthday is tomorrow, so more celebrating to come! I’d like to make him a fun birthday cake… any recommendations? I would greatly appreciate any input!

I decided to finally put up some pics from the past few months. I love how my Ottawa pictures turned out from the Byward market. All the colors of the fruits and vegetables were so vibrant and pretty, I couldn’t resist. And the leaves! Gosh I love Autumn. E and I went to Ottawa in October to spend our 3.5 anniversary, and to celebrate my uncle’s birthday. It was a lovely weekend.

How was your weekend? Did anything exciting happen?

❤ sjjt

Happy Halloween!

Hi Friends!

Happy Halloween! I hope you have a wonderful night with lots of fun, spooks, and candy!

Last night started off with a little dessert party for L‘s birthday. Then, we went to a party and saw some old friends we haven’t seen in ages. I ended up being a princess (tiara, pearls, and a big boa scarf!). It was fun running into people who I haven’t seen from since high school or in a couple of year. ( I feel so old…!!!!) With costumes filling up the room, and awesome music DJed by my buddy DJ Meir, it was a funtastic night.
E was even sweet enough to come surprise me there when he had no intention of going out. He’s just the sweetest boy I could ever ask for. My bestie F slept over and that was always fun.

Then this morning I made a brunch for a few of my girlies. F was my partner in crime for this one. We made a whole array of delisciousness-french toast casserole, a delicious frittata, home fries, bagels, fruit… yum!

A lot of fun.  Tonight I’m just going to take it easy with E and watch some scary movies. I never watch scary movies, so this is the one rare occasion that I’m actually up for it.

EEEK! fun fun fun. I’m excited.

How did you spend your halloween?

Tea Time Love Project

Attention all Tea lovers!

I have become inspired by Fanny’s latest post to try something new.

For all you tea devotees, let’s start a tea sharing network!

Green tea, black tea, white tea, red tea, you name it!

and how does this work you may ask?

Step 1- Name your favorite tea and why. You can also provide a brief description.

Well, I’ll start. Right now my favorite tea is Bengal Spice by Celestial. It’s a black spiced tea, that has a combination of vanilla, cinnamon, and other spices. It has to be brewed for quite a while so all the natural sweetness comes out.

Step 2- Seek other tea lovers, and ask what they’re favorite tea is and why.

Now, here’s your cue: What is your favorite tea?

Step 3- Trade addresses, and send each other a sample of each other’s favorite tea, along with some goodies 🙂

Step 4- Share your opinions, thoughts, and experience on your blog, and then continue onto the next tea lover!

hooray hooray hooray!

So, who’s in? I think this will be such a fun way to network with other tea lovers and make new friends.

hi friends,

I must apologize for my lack of posts lately. I’ve been busy figuring out what to do with my life… masters programs, volunteer programs, med schools, and all the applications involved. It’s overwhelming, tiring, and so darn exciting.

I spent the weekend with E in Ottawa celebrating my Uncle’s birthday and also our 3.5 year anniversary (even though it was a couple of weeks ago, this was our little excursion away together).  It was nice to get away for a day. The colors of autumn are warm and calming, and so beautiful. I really can say that one thing I am super grateful for in Canada is that we have 4 distinct seasons, each with their own characters, colors, smells… I look forward to the beginning of seasons whenever they come each year. The drive there and back was relaxing and tranquil. So nice to just catch a breath of the fresh air and enjoy al the colors.

I’ve also started noticing Halloween decorations popping up here and there, and boy oh boy am I excited!! I haven’t planned what I’ll be doing this year… nor have I planned any costume ideas. We shall see!

I also finished my book. I read “The Good Earth” by Pearl S Buck for the third time. I have to say, I really love this book, but for some reason I can never remember what the story is. So, I decided to read it (yet again). The story is so beautifully written… so descriptive of the early 20th century in rural China. The book has a sequel which I have yet to discover.

Have you ever heard of the foot binding craze in China? The book discusses it briefly, so I looked it up to learn more about it.

Basically young girls were urged to bind their feet (ie their mothers would wrap up the young girls feet as they were still growing in bandages that were so tight, they literally broke their feet and toes so that they would fold into themselves), in order to make their feet 3-3.5 inches long. Back in the day, this was considered desirable in girls to be wed. It was a sign that they came from affluent families, and that the girls didn’t have to work in the fields (seeing there was no need for their labor). So, because of this, they are solely for their man, making them desirable brides.  The craze stopped in the mid 1900s, seeing that the process of foot binding was excruciatingly painful and posed dangers later on in the girls’ lives… and might I say thank god! I don’t think any girl should suffer to simply be more desirable for men. Maybe this is more new age thinking, but geez, just the thought of breaking my feet, day after day, so that they can be 3 inches long seems ridiculous to me! Not many women have bound feet anymore in China- some of the elder ones do, and you can see here how tiny (and deformed) their feet are

Do you have any book recommendations?

Let me know!
